3 Popular Oahu North Shore Shrimp Trucks

The North Shore has long been the center for aquaculture on Oahu. Even today you can see numerous fish and shrimp farms driving up Kamehameha Highway. As a result, many Oahu North Shore shrimp trucks have been established. Many of which offer a variety of menu options with mouthwatering flavors, but all offer the basic garlic & butter option as well as the hot & spicy shrimp.

Since there are so many options, I will detail a few of the trucks I have tried.

Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck

Giovanni’s began serving shrimp in 1993. Since then, it has become one of the most popular destinations for visitors.

The shrimp had a distinct garlic and butter flavor, which was present throughout the whole dish. There was more enough butter to put on the rice and shrimp.

Giovanni’s offers shrimp scampi (their most popular), hot & spicy, and lemon/butter options for about ~$14 each plate. Each plate comes with 2 scoops of rice, a lemon, and 12 pieces of shrimp.

Fumi’s Kahuku Shrimp Truck

Fumi’s Shrimp Truck is another popular spot among visitors and locals alike. Their shrimp are sweet and flavorful with a lot of garlic and butter sauce to drench the rice and shrimp. However, the flavors didn’t infuse with the shrimp. Regardless, still very tasty.

Fumi’s offers a variety of menu items. Their most popular is the butter & garlic and the spicy butter & garlic flavors. Each plate is about $13 and comes with 2 scoops of rice, a lemon, and 9 pieces of shrimp.

Shrimp Shack

Another one of the more popular Oahu North Shore shrimp trucks is Shrimp Shack. Shrimp Shack offers a wider menu selection than the previous 2 shrimp trucks. While they offer a few shrimp options like garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp, they also offer other seafood options like calamari, grilled mahi, crab, and muscles.

Their garlic shrimp had a a very fresh flavor and didn’t disappoint. There was also enough sauce to cover the rice. Plates range from $10 to 18, depending on what menu item you select.

The shrimp plates cost around $10.75 and come with rice, a side of dipping sauce, and 6 pieces of shrimp.
