Cook rice according to package instructions
Mix 1/2 cup shoyu with 1/2 cup sugar. Set aside.
Cut spam into slices ( you can get about 8-10 slices out of 1 can of spam)
Fry spam on medium high heat. You don’t need to oil the pan.
While the spam is frying, shape your rice using the musubi mold. Loosely pack the rice in the mold and fill it to the top. Push down firmly, make sure rice in mold is even. Push rice out through bottom.
Remove excess oil from pan and blot the spam with a paper towel
Turn stove to low
Pour shoyu-sugar mix over spam still on hot pan, flip
Make sure all sides are coated with sauce
If needed, toss additional sugar in to caramelize shoyu mixture.
Pour a bit of sauce on rice then top the rice with furikake.
Place spam on rice.
If you like nori covering your entire musubi, half the nori, but if you want a strip of nori in the middle, half the nori and then half it again length-wise
Pick up your rice with spam and place it on the chopping board.
Bring nori over spam rough side down and wrap the nori around the spam and rice.
Dip you finger in water and use it to seal the nori.
